Fellowship Meeting – Bromley – Ian Purday – March 2019

Fellowship Meeting Reading – Bromley – Ian Purday – 30 March 2019
The Lord Jesus as a Shepherd

Scriptures
John 10:1-18 – I am the good shepherd
John 18:6-9 – I have other sheep which are not of this fold
Psalm 23 The Lord is my shepherd

Summary
• He tells us what shepherding is
• He tells who is to be shepherding
• He the tells us what He does
We have the good shepherd, the chief shepherd and the shepherd of the sheep.
He knows every detail of our lives and provides for us. As we hear the Shepherd’s voice we respond to it as we know how precious it is – especially when we are called by name.
If the voice is not making much of Jesus it is not the Shepherd’s voice.
The flock has the Shepherd as its centre and does not need the restriction of the fold.

The Harvest

Scriptures

John 4:31-38 The fields are white to harvest
Matt 4:18-20 I will make you fishers of men.
Matt 5:1-8

Summary

The harvest – persons need someone to direct them to Jesus – and the Lord wants to use you
Fish belong to God – He knows where they are, and we need to be prepared to fish in deep waters not just the shallows (ie the meetings).
The Lord will help us go beyond our old trusted ways.
Then we can care like a shepherd
