Better Things – Simple Things (Address)

Fellowship Meeting – Warrenpoint – Robert White – March 2018

First Fellowship Meeting Reading – Warrenpoint – Robert White – 31 March 2018
Seeing things from God’s point of view, seeing the Lord – what He is to God and to us.

  • Jer 2 (I remember for you),
  • Micah 2 (they shall come forth unto Me),
  • Luke 2 (born to you) ,
  • Isa 9 (unto us).

Second Fellowship Meeting Reading – Warrenpoint – Robert White – 31 March 2018
Our Links with the Lord Jesus in Resurrection

John 20:1-20 1 Cor 12:12-13,27 Col 1:18
How we have our links with the Lord Jesus in resurrection – a testified fact – we know Him. The Lord recognised His brethren – something that had never been there before. The best experience at the tomb was Mary’s who had the most affection. Now by the Spirit we are looking for the Lord’s return. We have peace – not fear in the body.

Lord’s Day Reading – Warrenpoint – Robert White – 1 April 2018
We are those the Father has given to Christ

Heb 5:6-10
John 1:11-13 (those who receive Him),
John 17:9-10, 24
We are those the Father has given to Christ
– Those who obey Him
– Those who receive Him
– Those who believe in His name

Restoration

Ps 69:1-4 – Then I restored that which I took not away.
Lk 6:1-11 his hand was restored as the othe
Lk 20:31-32 when once thou hast been restored, confirm thy brethren.

Restoration – When Adam sinned was everything lost? Man is bright back into relation with God.
Ref Isa 58:4 repairer of breeches. God allows failure so there can be restoration
Joy on healing – but not religious people
We need to be simple and rely on the Spirit
God is never taken by surprise

Fellowship Meeting Address – Bromley – Tom Munro – 30 June 2018
Breaking Down Barriers

Eph 2:11-22. ye who once were afar off are become nigh by the blood of the Christ. 14For he is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of enclosure,
Eph 4:9-16
2 Sam 3:1-10 nd king David made a covenant with them in Hebron before Jehovah; and they anointed David king over Israel.
Breaking down barriers
What is legal does not achieve anything – hold the truth in love – you don’t do what you want
Saul was selfish – but the people made room for Christ

Handling the Ark – the Human Way and the Right Way

2 Sam 6
1 Chron13

David’s concern for getting the ark.  Started the human way ended the right way. This was slower. For us it was what put the Lord first. ‘After the due order’ was Jewish. For us it is’ comlily and in order.’

10:17-18 – the Father loves me, because I lay down my life that I may take it again
Eph 1:3-7 – the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
Why does the Father love the Son?
-In Thy grace Thou now hast brought us
Sharers of Thy joy to be,
And to know the blessèd secret
Of His preciousness to Thee.  Hymn 277 – Edward H. Chater (1845-1915)

The Bride Making Herself Ready

Rev 19:6-8. the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife has made herself ready.
Matt 25:1-10 – he bridegroom came, and the [ones that were] ready went in with him to the wedding feast,
Luke 19:11-18
The bride making herself ready – Daniel kept himself pure – unspotted from the world.  Bride pays attention to detail . We are not at home here till He comes.

Lord’s Day Reading – Malvern – Grahame Smith – 2 December 2018

What has been Established on the Basis of Resurrection.

2 Cor 5:14-19 So if any one [be] in Christ, [there is] a new creation; the old things have passed away; behold all things have become new: . . .and all things [are] of the God who has reconciled us to himself by [Jesus] Christ,
John 20:16-18 – go to my brethren and say to them, I ascend to my Father and your Father, and [to] my God and your God
What has been established on basis of resurrection. New creation – in Christ. Importance of being ambassadors.

The Lord Jesus as a Shepherd

Scriptures
John 10:1-18 – I am the good shepherd
John 18:6-9 – I have other sheep which are not of this fold
Psalm 23 The Lord is my shepherd

Summary
• He tells us what shepherding is
• He tells who is to be shepherding
• He the tells us what He does
We have the good shepherd, the chief shepherd and the shepherd of the sheep.
He knows every detail of our lives and provides for us. As we hear the Shepherd’s voice we respond to it as we know how precious it is – especially when we are called by name.
If the voice is not making much of Jesus it is not the Shepherd’s voice.
The flock has the Shepherd as its centre and does not need the restriction of the fold.

Fellowship Meeting Address – Bromley – Ian Purday – 30 March 2019

The Harvest

Scriptures

John 4:31-38 The fields are white to harvest
Matt 4:18-20 I will make you fishers of men.
Matt 5:1-8

Summary

The harvest – persons need someone to direct them to Jesus – and the Lord wants to use you
Fish belong to God – He knows where they are, and we need to be prepared to fish in deep waters not just the shallows (ie the meetings).
The Lord will help us go beyond our old trusted ways.
Then we can care like a shepherd

Lord’s Day Reading – Bromley – Ian Purday – 31 March 2019

Thrice Worthy

Heb 1:1-4,9.

A name more excellent than angels
2:7-8 some little inferior to the angels; thou hast crowned him with glory and honour
3:1-6 he has been counted worthy of greater glory than Moses,
Rev 4:11 Thou art worthy, O our Lord and [our] God, to receive glory and honour and power;
5:9-12 Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open its seals; because thou hast been slain

Thrice worthy
• As God manifest in flesh
• Creator
• Redeemer

Gospel Preaching – Bromley – Ian Purday – 31 March 2019
The welcome

Rom 3:24-26. God has set forth a mercy-seat,
2:4 The goodness of God leads thee to repentance
Luk3 15:20-24 And they began to make merry.

The Lord Jesus as a Shepherd

John 10:1-18 – I am the good shepherd
John 18:6-9 – I have other sheep which are not of this fold
Psalm 23 The Lord is my shepherd

The Lord Jesus as a Shepherd
• He tells us what shepherding is
• He tells who is to be shepherding
• He the tells us what He does
We have the good shepherd, the chief shepherd and the shepherd of the sheep.
He knows every detail of our lives and provides for us. As we hear the Shepherd’s voice we respond to it as we know how precious it is – especially when we are called by name.
If the voice is not making much of Jesus it is not the Shepherd’s voice.
The flock has the Shepherd as its centre and does not need the restriction of the fold.
• The staff keeps us near Him
• The rod is not necessarily discipline
The Shepherd has His eye on us – He doesn’t nod off!
